Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton certainly wasn’t getting carried away about Celtic 2-1 victory over Feyenoord in the Champions League at Celtic Park last night, although he’d probably have preferred being at Paradise to watch his old team deservedly come out on top in what was a very entertaining game of football.
Feyenoord fans were welcomed by everyone at Celtic Park and the sheer size of an away support inside the ground certainly helped and whisper it but it’s actually a framework for the Glasgow Derby going forward into 2024 with around 2500 away supporters inside the ground.
That of course would have to be reciprocated across the city when Celtic visit Ibrox and Celtic would require the necessary safety assurances after a series of glass or bottle assaults on Celtic fans inside that dangerous little corner that they call an away end.
