Celtic have officially announced the signing of Japanese forward Shin Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale, making him the club’s sixth addition of the summer window…

The 25-year-old arrives with energy, versatility, and experience in Japan’s top flight, as Brendan Rodgers continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.
‘Shin Yamada transfer: Celtic sign Japan striker from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale on four-year deal The 25-year-old defender is Celtic’s fifth (sic) summer signing; Celtic have already signed Hayato Inamura, Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan, Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren.’
‘The 25-year-old was prolific for Frontale in 2024 scoring 19 goals, but has managed to find the net just twice this year. He made his international debut earlier this month, coming off the bench in Japan’s 6-1 win over Hong Kong at the East Asia Cup.
‘Yamada said his goodbyes to Frontale fans after their cup match against SC Sagamihara on Wednesday.’ Sky Sports report.

Yamada’s arrival is a strategic and exciting move for Celtic, with the forward bringing not just a goalscoring pedigree, but also tactical flexibility and a tireless work ethic. Comfortable playing through the middle or drifting wide, his movement off the ball and ability to exploit spaces will add a dynamic edge to Celtic’s frontline.
Brendan Rodgers will certainly welcome Yamada’s intelligent play and there is no doubt the Japanese international can thrive in the Scottish Premiership’s high-intensity environment. With the club aiming to make an impact in European competition, Yamada’s experience in the AFC Champions League could prove invaluable.

The new Celtic signing will be eager to see how quickly he settles, but early signs suggest Yamada could become a key addition to the Celtic squad. If he rediscovers his 2024 form, Celtic may have unearthed a gem who can lead the line for years to come.
Hopefully we’ll get to see Shin Yamada introduced to the Celtic support today at the friendly with Newcastle United at Celtic Park.

Welcome to Celtic Shin.
I believe this will turn out to be an excellent signing.
Do you people even fact check or look over for spelling/grammar/factual errors on your articles? It seems every single day you make a mistake it’s so stupid.
Stop using AI because that’s so clearly the problem. At the top on the green writing section it’s written that shin yamada is a defender. Wake the f up eh. If this continues I’ll never read another article from here again. It’s almost every day mistakes like this are seen.
Apologies. On me. Took that part in green from Skysports announcement, as the story broke – that’s why it’s in quotes. I’d noticed the error in the signing number being wrong – hence the (sic) after ‘fifth’ signing when it is actually our sixth, but missed the defender part. So as much as I’d like to blame AI, it’s entirely on me for missing that part. Rushed it in haste to submit it quickly.
Not AI, copy & paste fae Sky Sports headline
If this bhoy can get back tae the kind of form he had 2 seasons ago I think he’ll dae well for us.
Fingers crossed
I hope every signing we make is a success within the club, even with the knowledge that’s it’s fairly impossible to achieve, with the price market we operate within.
As squad building goes, 3 strikers potentially in place now, with Idah, shin and Kenny.
Personally think Maeda would be the best starting option available to lead the line imo at present.
Not possible really with the lack of wide options available still?
So a very strange strategy taken to date, in actually forming our attacking options within our squad at present imo?
Especially as I’m not totally convinced about Idah given the no1 striker role at present?
