Celtic transfer update: Midfielder departs, possible return for an old face and goalkeeper update

Although plenty of names have been linked with a move to Celtic this summer, it still feels like the only confirmations seem to be surrounding players who are leaving.

Liam Burt is one of a select few who have bounced between Celtic and the Rangers in his career, but it seems he’s now headed to England after Celtic didn’t take up the option to extend his contract.

Jack Hendry is another one who should probably leave at this point in his career, but it sounds like he’s desperate to reject interest from Belgium to prove he deserves a chance in the first team.

While we all wait to see what happens with Fraser Forster, Craig Gordon appears to be inching his way closer to an exit after he was linked with a return to Hearts yet again.

The news on potential incomings is a bit slower, but there are some interesting stories out there.

Peterborough striker Ivan Toney has been impressive this season and has been linked with Celtic for a while, and their Chairman has made an interesting admission over where his future will lie next season.

Some fans may remember Jackson Irvine who was on the fringes of the Celtic side a few years ago – he’s now a free agent and could be a useful addition to the squad.

Finally we’ve seen that Celtic have had success by signing young players who aren’t getting a chance down south, and it sounds like they could beat several teams to the signing of West Ham attacker Veron Parkes.
