Harry Kewell joins Celtic as first team coach

News has broken last night that former Liverpool and Leeds United winger, Harry Kewell has joined Ange Postecoglou at Celtic as a first team coach. The Aussie will complement Gavin Strachan, Stephen McManus, Stevie Woods and assistant manager John Kennedy for next season.

As reported by Sky Sports, the former Australia international midfielder will join up with Postecoglou at the club after a few near misses in the past. Kewell has recently managed Barnet in the National League in England, parting company after a four month stint. His CV also boasts a wealth of experience in the game having played at the highest levels.

With the Champions League looming large for next season and domestic trebles to be had, it’s no wonder Ange wants to beef up the backroom behind the scenes at Lennoxtown as well as tooling up on the park.

Cameron Carter-Vickers had only hours earlier been announced when the Kewell news hit the Celtic supporters.

If the two recent additions are anything to go by, it looks like Celtic mean business this forthcoming season.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
