Forrest Fire and Fifteen Games to Frustrate the Dallas Cowboys

JAMES FORREST will be getting on the Celtic team-bus shortly for the short trip up the A9 from the team’s hotel and will no-doubt cast his mind back to his last visit to McDiarmid Park.

The most over-used headline when Jamesy has had a good game is of course ‘Forrest on Fire’ and never has that been a more accurate description of a player’s individual performance than that afternoon last October when Jamesy simply ran riot.

“Everything just clicked, especially getting four in the first-half,” he recalled in his media briefing.

“It was good because going into that game we had been struggling to score goals.

“That game set us off on a good wee run and it was good on a personal level.

“Both me and the team were creating chances, we just weren’t being clinical enough but that game gave everyone confidence and we kicked on,” Forrest said.

Forrest came up against St Johnstone in midweek and after struggling to break them down in the first half, two goals from Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie at the start of the second half gave Celtic the points and turned the long awaited game in hand into three tangible points to give Celtic a six point lead.

That was reduced yesterday with the younger member of the Dallas Cowboys bringing the game into Disrepute at Ibrox, so today’s game is once again huge for Celtic.

“We had a game in hand since the League Cup Final and the manager said it was important to make a statement by getting a good result when we played it against St Johnstone in midweek,” Jamesy noted.

“But we still have 15 games to go and we need to make sure we’re at it until the end of the season.

“We have the experience of being in front. But every team we play is making it hard for us.

“We can’t just think that because we’re clear that’s going to be enough for us.

“We’ve been back to our best in the last few games, scoring goals and getting clean sheets — and we need to keep that going.

“The manager is really good. At half-time on Wednesday he was composed. He was happy with how we were playing and felt we would create enough chances.

“Once we got the goal the second arrived quickly and we started to open up and play the way we can.”
