New Celtic contract for Daizen Maeda is a no brainer

In a surprising new twist the Scottish mainstream media have seemingly found the time to drag themselves away from the moonbeams they’ve been busy spreading over Ibrox way, and have shone some positivity in Celtic’s direction for a pleasant change…

That positive news arrived in the shape of a proposed new contract offer for player of the season in waiting Daizen Maeda and it was reported on The Celtic Star last night.

A fantastic move by Celtic

If true then it’s a fantastic move by the club. Daizen Maeda still has two years of his current deal remaining, but if he continues to replicate the same sort of form he’s producing presently then he will no doubt attract the attention of the continents more wealthier sides, so having him on a long term deal will only enhance our bargaining power.

Of course we have no intention of selling our best players, but as we know it’s not as simple as that, and in going with our current transfer strategy we will sell if that price is right.

Daizen Maeda is a terrific player

Daizen Maeda is a terrific player and if he keeps improving will become an even better player and asset. He’s only 27 and about to enter his peak years as a footballer.

Hopefully that is with Celtic. Get it signed, sealed and delivered. It’s a no brainier and a move that every Celtic supporter will welcome, except possibly that chap who reckoned Daizen Maeda was the worst Celtic player he’d ever seen!

  1. No brainer? He is signed for a couple of years and either way, it is very likely he will be gone in the next transfer window and we won’t fight on price.

Anything around 15 million will have Desmond pulling down his pants and letting some English/German/Italian stick it to us

This should be the headline a year from today.
