‘Oh My Days’ – Frimpong eyes Europa League involvement

JEREMIE FRIMPONG missed out on the Group Stages of the Europa League as he was signed on the last day of the summer transfer window in September and that came after the deadline for clubs to submit their playing pool to UEFA.

He’s good to go for the knock-out rounds and we suspect that’s a good description on how he’ll perform on the European stage – an absolute knock-out.

‘Oh My Days’ Frimpong was excellent yesterday in his Man of the Match performance in the 2-0 win against a decent Hibs side who will fancy their chances in their next outing, a Friday night encounter with the Rangers at Easter Road. Celtic visit Tynecastle in Wednesday so have the opportunity to extend the lead at the top of the table to 5 points and heap the pressure on Steven Gerrard’s team who will be without the suspended Alfredo Morelos for that game.

Both Glasgow teams will find out who their round of 32 Europa League opponents will be at lunchtime today with Celtic seeded and the Rangers int he unseeded category after failing to beat Young Boys on Thursday night. Had they held on to win that game they too would have been seeded and that is likely to mean a much tougher opponent for them.

Speaking after yesterday’s game Frimpong was still buzzing, as indeed he always is when we hear from him. “I was just delighted to score my first home goal,” he told the Media as reported by Scottish Sun.

“It was really good, the team played amazingly and we deserved it. The fans are amazing so to score in front of them was the best feeling. I have been practising finishing in training and practice makes perfect.

“We won the final last week and I got a red card but I got over it. The manager told me not to worry about the sending-off and said I played well. It’s always good when you get the manager on side.

“I’m really excited to play in Europe — it’s going to be a good experience for me.”
