‘Pleasing Performance was two-and-a-half years in the making,’ Brendan

BRENDAN RODGERS is quite understandably delighted with the goalscoring start that both of his loan signings Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah have made.

Weah had just spoken to the media ahead of his manager – we cover his press conference HERE – and Burke spoke yesterday about his own brilliant start to life at Celtic, suggesting that he might want to make the move on a permanent basis – see HERE.

And it was the start these two players have made that was the first thing on the agenda for the media today, when questioning The Celtic manager.

“Ollie and Tim have both been very good,” Brendan replied to this question.

“They’ve settle into our style well and really quickly.

“It’s a culture of developing and improving that we have here and they are two young players who have come in to do exactly that,” The Celtic boss continued.

“It’s great that they’ve come in and settled well but that’s also because of the profile of player they are.

“We want to keep that going and develop them over the rest of the season.”

Brendan, like the rest of us, was delighted by the performance against St Mirren and had a special word for another young player who was a stand out on the night.

“It was such a pleasing performance against St Mirren,” Brendan stated.

“It’s been two-and-a half years of creating an identity here in terms of how we play and that was apparent the other night.

“To see the likes of young Euan Henderson coming in and slotting into that was great.”

And the manager gave an update his new striker, Bayo, who has now joined the squad to begin the process of getting settled in and then match-fit.

“Bayo has trained the last couple of days so it’s about getting him up to speed now,” Brendan said.

On tomorrow’s opponents Hamilton, Brendan was his usual respectful self, praising their manager Martin Canning for the job that he has done.

“Martin’s done a wonderful job with Hamilton. From afar, looking at the work he does and the conditions, he’s done a very good job,” Brendan said.

“They always make it tough for us and we’ll expect the same tomorrow.”
