‘Scott’s never been the brightest,’ Lenny reacts to Broony’s Twitter Error

NEIL LENNON yesterday laughed off the controversy surrounding Scott Brown liking a post on Twitter on Tuesday night that was heavily critical of The Celtic manager after the horrendous 4-3 defeat to Cluj in the Champions League qualifier.

In what was an awful night for The Celtic manager personally – he played Callum McGregor out of position at left back, left £10million of summer signings on the bench, failed to shore up the defence when Celtic twice got their noses in front and brought on Lewis Morgan, who by his own admission earlier this week has had no assists or goals while playing for Celtic – yet Scotty Sinclair, a hugely influential player at the club over these past three seasons, wasn’t even on the bench. It was a complete and utter shambles of a night from The Celtic manager and worryingly he doesn’t seem to accept that this is how just about everyone who was there or who watch around the world on Celtic TV saw it.

“Scott’s never been the brightest! Seemingly he’s accidentally hit this like button,” Lenny said yesterday at his Media Conference ahead of today’s League Cup tie against Dunfermline. It is fair to say that there will not be 60,000 there today.

“I don’t think he’s ever been on Twitter that much. He was just looking for the reaction, which is natural.

“It can be damaging. Maybe he can detach himself from it as well and concentrate on being the great captain that he is,” The Celtic manager said, as reported by Scottish Sun.

Scott Brown was quick to post a clarification on Twitter, explaining his error and saying that it is not his style to slag anyone in social media, which is fair enough but the incident just added to what was a horrible night for Celtic.

Here’s what all the fuss was about…

“Was just flicking through Twitter,” The Celtic captain tweeted,'” must have touched the buttony accident,” much in the same way he touched the ball to needlessly concede that penalty when we were winning 2-1.

“Not my style to slag anyone off on Twitter. I am fully behind the manager and all the players are as well.

“If anyone should be getting a slagging or abuse it’s all about me tonight as didn’t perform. Sorry,” The Celtic captain wrote.

The Celtic Captain at least recognised his own role in the horror show and said sorry to the support, Neil Lennon still doesn’t seem to that his decisions proved to be costly on the night, he’s still talking about how good Callum McGregor was at left back! Crazy really.

Moving on though, Neil Lennon has an opportunity to look at his squad today to see if there are players there who can contribute and he surely is going to give Scott Brown an afternoon off?
