Yellow means AIK’s 17 goal striker Elyounoussi is suspended for trip to Celtic

AIK STOCKHOLM will be without their top star at Celtic Park next Thursday after striker Tarik Elyounoussi picked up a booking last night that means he’ll be suspended for the first leg of the Europa League Play-off in Glasgow.

AIK negotiated their home leg against Sheriff Tiraspol last night, drawing 1-1 in Stockholm to progress 3-2 on aggregate. But the costly Elyounoussi booking will certainly limit their goal threat at Celtic Park and will be a blow to the Swedish Champions.

Elyounoussi, who has been capped 55 times for Norway and has scored 17 goals in 36 games for AIK since signing from Qarabag last year, was understandably frustrated at missing out on the chance to play at the legendary Celtic Park.

“It’s a massive disappointment to me because I would have loved to have played at Celtic Park,” Elyounoussi told the Swedish media, as reported by Evening Times.

“It’s a real punishment, but there’s nothing I can do about it now. In future I will have to calm down my temper a little.”

Judging by the responses that Celtic have been getting today to their ticket price announcement for Thursday night’s match, it is hardly likely to be a vintage Paradise atmosphere when AIK come calling – see HERE.
