Chris Sutton believes Viljami Sinisalo was at fault and could have done more to prevent Kilmarnock’s consolation strike against Celtic over the weekend…
Brendan Rodgers’ side made a blistering start, racing to a 4-0 lead in just 24 minutes courtesy of goals from Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Cameron Carter-Vickers. The Hoops are now one point away from securing a fourth consecutive league title.
Danny Armstrong’s effort beat the Celtic goalkeeper
However, Kilmarnock responded around the 30-minute mark, with winger Danny Armstrong’s effort leaping over Sinisalo and into the Celtic net.
Armstrong collected the ball on the flank and curled it into the top-left corner past Sinisalo, with Sutton suggesting the Finnish keeper should have done more to stop it: “He [Danny Armstrong] didn’t mean it,” said Sutton speaking post-match on Sky Sports on Saturday.
“He didn’t get his feet going”
“Actually, Viljami Sinisalo. It’s a big game for him, and he didn’t get his feet going. I thought he should have judged the flight of the cross a lot better there. That’s what it was. A cross.”
Sinisalo has stepped in as Celtic’s goalkeeper while Kasper Schmeichel recovers from a shoulder injury, though the experienced Dane may still make a comeback before the season concludes.

However, Schmeichel remains involved in some parts of training at Lennoxtown despite his injury: “He’s clearly not damaged his feet,” said Rodgers prior to Celtic’s 1-0 defeat to St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
“So, he can use his feet and work on his touch and whatnot. I think the time we’ve been given has been five to six weeks by the medical experts, but that could be sooner.”

“So, he feels good, he’s got some mobility, he’s got rotation there, but we just obviously have to be careful with the blade and his shoulders. He can do other things, so he’s out on the training field and working on the technical side of his game.”
Kasper was out on the pitch for the Celtic warm-up on Saturday, standing with the coaches observing the outfield players preparing for the match.
