Griffiths named in Celtic side for Reserve Cup tie at Dundee

LEIGH GRIFFITHS starts today for Celtic in the SPFL Reserve Cup match against Dundee at Dens Park. The striker came on for double goalscorer Bayo in the later stages of yesterday’s 3-1 win over Hearts at Celtic Park.

Now Neil Lennon has sent him up to Tayside to get some more minutes in as the Scotland striker works his way back to full match fitness after his extended time off work earlier this year to deal with personal problems.

He has worked hard in pre-season to build up his fitness levels but looked off the pace in the League Cup tie against Dunfermline last weekend, after scoring a wonderful goal the previous Saturday against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

Additional minutes today will help as Leigh works hard to get back to his very best in a Celtic shirt. With Edouard looking increasingly impressive and Bayo showing what he can do yesterday, the striking department at Celtic is looking fairly strong.

We’ll keep an eye on the scoring from the Dundee v Celtic Reserve Cup tie this afternoon.

The Celtic Reserves side to face Dundee is Hughes, McBrdie, Miller, Church, Welsh, Coffet, Burt, Robertson, Griffiths, Aitchison and Oko Flex. On the bench are Mullen, Paterson, McGraith, Mackay and Harper.

Karamoko Dembele remains sidelined with an injury.
