Ryan Christie reveals he has been fined £20 by Scott Brown

Ryan Christie has made an incredible start to the season, having already scored 16 goals for the Hoops. But the Celtic playmaker has revealed how he was recently fined £20 by club captain Scott Brown for being too slow.

We are just entering December and Ryan Christie has already scored 16 goals and assisted 10 more for Celtic this season. But that is not apparently not enough for Scott Brown who hilariously fined his teammate £20 for being too slow against Hamilton Academical in mid-week. Funnily, Fraser Forster eclipsed Christie’s top speed during the game.

The incident took place when Scott Brown scored in the 92nd minute to hand Celtic all three points after all hope had seemed lost just a couple minutes earlier when Hamilton equalised in the 90th minute. The goal saw wild celebrations from the players, especially Fraser Forster who ran the whole length of the pitch to join his teammates’ celebrations at the other end. The English goalkeeper’s highest speed on the night was tracked at 30.5 miles/hour. This was higher than Christie’s top speed for the night, which was 30 miles/hour.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Christie revealed the hilarious story of his fine:

“My top speed the whole night apparently was 30mph – and because Fraz hit 30.5, I got fined!

“Broony issued the fine, although I actually think he was slower than the pair of us. It goes into the Christmas fund.

“The ball was barely in the net and Fraser was in my face! I was like: ‘How did he get there?’’”

This just shows the unity among the Celtic players, which is one of the biggest reasons why they have continued to dominate Scottish football for almost a decade now. This should serve them well as they head to Hampden Park to take on Rangers in the League Cup final and look to close out this historic decade on a high note with another trophy.
