Scott Allan’s Pre-Contract with Hibs presents Celtic with this Opportunity

NEIL LENNON was delighted to have captured Scott Allan’s signature this afternoon on a pre-contract agreement and the Hibs manager will now speak to his counter-part at Celtic to see if a deal can be arranged to let the midfielder make the move to Easter Road in this window.

Allan has signed on at Easter Road on a three year deal and will be looking to get started back at Hibs as soon as possible.

Lennon is only able to take one player on loan from another Premiership club and he has his eye on both Lewis Morgan and Jack Hendry. So if either of these players are going to head to Easter Road on loan for the rest of this season, it would mean Hibs having to make an offer for Allan.

The Celtic manager spoke today about the attributes of Scott Allan and the fact that he needs game time at this stage in his career – see HERE.

Some Celtic supporters feel that we should be doing nothing to assist Hibs after their role in the John McGinn stand-off last summer, however strengthening Hibs, who took four points off the Rangers in December has its advantages.

And this would also give Celtic the perfect opportunity to secure a deal with Hibs to get the entire stand behind the goals for our second visit to Easter Road this season. Back in December Hibs tried and failed to sell half the seats in that stand to their own fans, and that lost them around £100k from sales to the Celtic support who would have taken all of those seats.

Selling Allan for a nominal fee, loan Lenny the player that he wants – Morgan or Hendry – and get a deal on those tickets, all makes sense, surely?

“It’s no secret that Scott is a player I admire and wanted back at Hibernian,” Lennon told the media this afternoon.

“He’s a player who suits the attacking brand of football we like to play. The type that gets supporters off their seats.

“We’re looking forward to having him back.”

And the Hibs Chief Executive Leeann Dempster was just as pleased as the former Celtic manager.

“We’re delighted to have been able to come to a pre-contract agreement with Scott.

“It goes without saying that he’s a player our supporters hold in the highest regard and we were determined to bring him back to Easter Road.

“It’s an arena and a club that brings out the best in Scott and, from speaking to him, it’s clear that it means a lot to him.”
