Transfer Latest – Celtic closing in on three new signings

So in what has been a busy day of transfer activity at Celtic, which very much looks like Ange Postecoglou is determined to secure as many of his summer signing as possible before the players start to return for pre-season training beginning next week, what do we know?

Well it looks like there will be two or probably three new arrivals as we await the white smoke on the Jota deal. With Cameron Carter-Vickers already announced the Jota situation has dragged on as the Celtic support gets increasingly frustrated at the delay. Nothing at all points to a problem with this deal although we’ll all be happier when it’s officially announced, very soon.

Then there’s the left back situation with Liam Scales heading to Aberdeen for the season and Celtic reaching an agreement with Lanus to sign Alexandro Bernabei. Last night we told you about the reservations that Vinicius Souza and his advisors had about a move to the Scottish Premiership, despite assurances from Ange Postecoglou and encouragement from the City Group that the player should develop his career under the guidance of the Australian.

If that’s not to be then it could well be that as we reported this morning, Portuguese media sources are claiming that Celtic have reached an agreement to sign Vitoria de Guimaraes defensive midfielder Alfa Semedo for 2.5m euros plus add-ons.

If that is indeed the case, as the spoliation has increased on this one throughout the day, then that two new arrivals plus CCV as we wait for Jota. And the third likely arrival is the former Dundee United goalkeeper Ben Siegrist who is a free agent and has been spotted in the Blythswood Hotel, where incidentally Vasilis Barkas headed to after arriving in Glasgow from AEK Athens. There are even suggestions on social media that he has passed his medical.

Siegrist could be signing number 3 but no chicken counting until we get more details on all three deals heading to completion.
