Bolingoli’s buzzing after Beautiful Sunday – ‘We can go really far in the Europa League with this team’

CULT HERO Boli Bolingoli has certainly won over the Celtic support and the recent outpouring of love and appreciation for the Belgian can surely only help him settle into life at the Scottish Champions.

Bolingoli is very much a valued member of the wider Celtic family and if he’s on social media he’ll be well aware of the affection that’s out there for him among our support.

It’s fair to say that the £3million summer signing from Rapid Vienna had a difficult start at Celtic. Yet it was only when he wasn’t in the team – that fateful night last month against Cluj – that Celtic lost a game. It’s going to be interesting when the Romanians come calling in the Europa League, a re-match that Neil Lennon will relish as will the Celtic support. And you would imagine that Bolingoli and also Christopher Jullien who was also left on the bench that night, will both be in the side and ready to put things right.

Bolingoli has been speaking to Celtic TV this week and like the rest of the Celtic new Bhoys he’s been blown away by the team’s success in the first Glasgow Derby of the season at Ibrox last Sunday – it was Beautiful.

“It was not easy for me to adapt that fast, I also didn’t expect it. But we did quite well, me and Hatem Abd Elhamed and also Christopher Jullien.

“All the new players adapted really fast. You see it on the pitch how we are progressing every game, getting better and better.

“If we can help the team like this, hopefully we can only become better. Now we have a few days off it feels good after that busy month in August.

“I’m very happy that the adaptation went very well like this and we are all very happy to be here at Celtic of course, too,” Bolingoli said to Celtic TV as reported by Daily Record.

“Everybody is happy right now, me as well. After last weekend, you can be only happy if we win with that result. It was a nice result to go into the break with.

“When you are a new player, to come in to a club like Celtic with these kind of fans, it’s amazing. This connection we had after the game felt good and, hopefully, it can only become stronger in future,” the Celtic star said. And he was full of praise for club captain Scott Brown who was absolutely immense at Ibrox and was later subjected to a disgraceful verbal assault.

“Scott Brown is a big leader, he’s a legend for me. How he plays every game, you can only look up to him.

“In the derby, I was looking at him like, Damn, that’s a real captain. He’s helped me a lot. He’s cool and we have a laugh. He gives a real positive motivation.

“It was such a great performance across the whole team. You saw that in the players, they were ready. They were ready to go fight and if we continue like this with this spirit in the future, we can make a lot of people pay, you know?”

Bolingoli also looked ahead to the Europa League campaign, rather than looking back at what might have been with the Champions League fiasco.

“We can be really satisfied in qualifying for the Europa. Of course we wanted more, but now we are in the Europa we can be happy with that and, hopefully, we can do something.

“I’m very confident that we can reach something and go really far in this league with this team as we have a lot of quality in there.

“I’m looking forward to it as in the Europa League, every club, even the smaller clubs can be dangerous, so we need to be ready for that.

“Just playing our game, how we did last month. There will be very tough games we have in that group. Cluj we have to have our revenge, of course.

“Lazio is a big club in Italy and then there is Rennes. We have our experience from our preparation, so we have a good group, but we can do something there.”
